DeBordieu Boulevard Construction to Begin This Week

The long awaited DeBordieu Boulevard pedestrian path/beautification project will begin later this week with projected completion before Memorial Day.

The planning of this project has been four years in the making and will include the following:

  • A 4-ft. asphalt path on each side of the grass median for use by pedestrians, golf carts, bicyclists, etc.
  • The select removal of existing trees/shrubs to improve visibility. As an example, the plan below shows the section of DeBordieu Boulevard adjacent to the playground, where the construction will begin. The plan includes areas where vegetation will be removed and replaced with new landscaping. The full set of renderings for each section can be found here.
  • The installation of new landscape includes 15 new 3″ caliper Live Oaks, 60 Crepe Myrtles and lower growing grasses and palms.
  • Phase One of the project ends just south of Dune Oaks Drive on DeBordieu Boulevard.

Contractors are advised not to park their trucks on the median so as not to impede the work in progress.

For the safety and enjoyment of all of our members and guests, please be aware of the pathway construction as you travel on DeBordieu Boulevard. While there may be temporary delays, the end result will prove to be worth the wait.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we improve the natural surroundings of DeBordieu Colony.
